Rafael met his future wife while attending Berkeley, where they live today with their young son. They are excitedly expecting the arrival of twins. When not at work, Rafael can be found playing with his young son at Berkeley’s Tilden Park, riding a bike over the Berkeley hills, surfing in Bolinas, playing soccer, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family. He and his wife are Ambassadors at the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden.
In addition to his native Portuguese, Rafael speaks Spanish and German – so, as you can see, Rafael is more than ready to receive your phone call when you reach out to Hanke & Co.

Rafael oversees client service requests and supports the firm’s senior planners in preparing written financial plans and managing client portfolios.
He brings a breadth of industry experience, including more than six years within the investment division of Brazil’s largest private bank. Locally, he gained prior experience working with other San Francisco wealth advisors.
Rafael has a passion for sharing his financial knowledge and skills so others may realize their life goals through wise financial planning. His joy of teaching can be traced to lecturing assignments he held in Dakar, Senegal and Zhuhai, China.
Born and raised in Brazil, Rafael moved to the United States in 2011 to attend UC Berkeley where he obtained a Diploma in Investment and Business. He also holds a master’s in economics and an MBA.
